Southern Illinois has some of the best sites to see. They have hiking/biking trails, lakes, rivers, and many more. But let's choose Carlyle’s beautiful lake and get into some detail. There are many beautiful things to do around Carlyle Lake. Carlyle is a great family centered place; they love to help and entertain the community.

Let’s start with most people’s favorite thing in Carlyle,which is the General Dean Bridge. The slow flowing water going by is just an immaculate view. General Dean Suspension Bridge spans the Kaskaskia River at Carlyle in Clinton County, Illinois. During the winter, the bridge is lit up with beautiful lights. So what could be a more fun way to spend the day at Carlyle’s awesome suspension bridge? This bridge is referred to by locals as the “swinging bridge.” This is also a part of the bike trail.

Another great option is looking at the water but not getting in the Carlyle dam. A fun fishing dam and a family out on the boat are just some things you might see. You can not fish off the dam but you can fish at the bottom. It’s a super fun way to learn about dams and in particular the Carlyle dam. You can walk across the top of the dam and read the historic points. There are some stairs to make it up to the top of the dam and kids love to race up them. Make sure your kids are safe while doing so.

Looking for a place to find great sunsets on the water? Carlyle Lake campground might just be just the place for you! There is more than one campground you would like. Come to Carlyle Lake and camp out in a tent, RV, or camper. It is a great, quiet, and kid friendly campground. Bring your kids out and let them make some campground buddies. Bring your grandparents and enjoy some sunsets and sunrises with some coffee.

Walking and hiking trails are an amazing way to view. Trails are a great choice for an activity at Carlyle lake. There are many choices from easy to more challenging, like walking, biking and fishing. They have many family friendly walking trails as well and great scenery. There are quarter mile markers so you can walk as far as you would like. The walking trail all together is 3 miles.

I mentioned it before but fishing at Carlyle Lake is super fun. Especially if you enjoy moving water, fishing, or to get out on the boat. You can bring some friends and enjoy boat fishing. The fishing dam is a great place for you.

Carlyle Lake is worth the visit! Just be sure to wear some safe shoes so you can walk your heart out. You could wear any Chaco shoes during the summer; tennis shoes are a great choice as well. Carlyle Lake is a great place with so many things to do. Looking at the water, walking or biking on trails or going out on the boat are just some things you can do at Carlyle Lake
